My name is Josh, I'm 25 and currently reside in Melbourne, Australia. I'm a choreographer (working with contemporary dance and physical theatre) which is quite a diverse career and takes me to a lot of places (some more exciting than others).
I have an inexplicable addiction to buying (and reading I guess) fantasy novels. I've been an avid fantasy reader since I was about eight years old - the first actual novel I remember reading is Charlotte's Web, although I'm sure there were others before that. Up until I was eighteen it was really just something to fill the time and I would borrow all my books from the library. Over the last few years it's turned into something much more serious.
If I read a book, I have to own it and it has to be purchased brand new (or in new condition). The best part of my books for me (other than actually reading them) is having them all lined up, shiny and new, in size order on my shelves. Each series has to all be of the same height and cover style. I have a few mismatched ones and they are the bane of my existence. If you haven't figured it out yet, I am incredibly anally-retentive about my books! The addiction to buying them is becoming a lot worse ... I constantly have over 40 books in my to-be-read list because I keep buying new ones. I cannot pass by a book store or book sale without going in and I scan my Book Depository wishlist daily, waiting for my will to crumble so I can add another one to the basket.
Ok, that's enough crazy. I started this blog because I wanted to talk about and voice my opinions on the books that I read. My partner hates fantasy with a passion and constantly ridicules my nerdiness. Working in dance and theatre, not a lot of people there are into fantasy either. So I started the blog. For me it's not about writing reviews for an audience, or trying to get heaps of followers, it's more about having somewhere to write about the books I read in a more informal way and hopefully share that with other interested people.
I hope you enjoy reading!
